Pinyin and Characters

Pinyin use the tone marks to indicate the corresponding characters. More than one character can be in the same form of Pinyin, with the same tone marks.

CSS and HTML: Referenced class materials, assignments, and W3School.

Images: LBC logo and the rollover of the cat and dog are created from scratch. The cat image utilizes a CSS image rollover effect. The logo is on every page of the site, and the rollover is on both of the home page and the site map page.

Secondary Navigation System: A site map is added to the bottom of the page, on every page of the site. Where the Web I Home Page, the References and Resources (current page), and the Class List links are also located,

Embedded Media: There are YouTube videos embedded on every page of the site, except for the Numbers, Chinese Zodiac, Family, Phrases, References and Sources, and Site Map pages.

JavaScript: The JavaScript function is used on the homepage for the 汉语/漢語 image. The script is used to enlarge the image when clicked by opening a new html page with a larger image. It is also used to provide better detail of the characters, especially the traditional characters.

Site Summary: The design of the website and the overall contents used are at a desirable level. The back and forth translations and the addition of tone marked Pinyin is a plus, yet improvements still can be made. Providing more user interactions to enhance their learning experience and more detailed explanations and varieties of the characters and phrases can also be made. Other than the contents of the site, the design may be improved on as well with an addition of a view count of users who visited the site.
